A Town Hall Session with Stakeholders for the Proposed Amendments to the LUAS Enactment was held on 27 February 2019 (WEDNESDAY) at the Dato Seri Harun Idris Auditorium, PKNS Office, Shah Alam.
The session involved stakeholders with the Board comprising several sectors such as Industry, Agriculture, Mining, Plantation, Aquaculture, Development, Utilities and Commercial. The purpose of this session is:-
- Obtain all views and suggestions from stakeholders (Industry Player) for proposed amendments to the LUAS Enactment 1999; and
- Discuss issues against existing policies and legislation.
The content of this session consisted of a presentation on the LUAS Enactment 1999 presented by the Chief Assistant Director (Legal) Tuan Haizam Irwan bin Toha who explained the functions and powers of the Board and activities regulated by the Board including but not limited to licensing, fees and charges and the contents of the Enactment others. Shortly afterwards, the Session continued with suggestions from stakeholders from all sectors present which was moderated by Ir. Dr. Salmah binti Zakaria and was accompanied by Legal Officer Puan Norfazilah binti Shaharudin. A total of 58 suggestions were received as a result of this session.
In conclusion, this session has achieved its objective to obtain suggestions from stakeholders (Industry Players). Subsequently, the process of improvement or revision of the LUAS Enactment 1999 will consider all suggestions and views made by all parties, whether government agencies, private or non -governmental organizations.
