WORLD RIVER DAY PROGRAM 2018 SELANGOR STATE LEVEL

On 29 and 30 September 2018, LUAS has organized the Selangor State Level World River Day 2018 Program at Off-River Storage (ORS) Kg. Hang Tuah, Bestari Jaya, Kuala Selangor. The program was officiated by Dato 'Menteri Besar of Selangor, Tuan Amirudin bin Shari. The 14th World Rivers Day program is celebrated in more than 60 countries around the world, including Malaysia. This program aims to increase public awareness while promoting the control of cleanliness and sustainability of rivers in Selangor. Our rivers face various threats and pressures of pollution as a result of human actions directly or indirectly. So let us work with each other to preserve and conserve our rivers. The cleanliness of river water is the responsibility of all levels regardless of the government, the private sector, non -governmental organizations and not to mention the community.

Various activities were carried out during the 2 days of the program, among them were exhibitions, people's feasts, kayak competitions, chair painting competitions, boat building competitions, live band performances and so on. ORS Kg. Hang Tuah was chosen to be the location of the program as a step to introduce SMART ORS to the public. SMART ORS is an innovation from LUAS and was named the winner of the Best Overall Project Award of the Selangor State Innovation Council (MPIPANS) in 2017. This year, LUAS was also named the Best Hybrid Innovation Project with UNISEL, as well as the champion for the Category Social Improvement for MPIPANS.
